3rd and 4th class has a great day out on Tuesday 13th June. We set off early from school for Dublin. First stop was the Dublinia Museum. We really enjoyed discovering what it was like to live as a Viking in Ireland and also what life was like during the Middle Ages. We got to sit in a Viking house and saw a longboat. We also got to visit a fair from the Middle Ages and learn about all the punishments that were given for the people who stole or disobeyed their king. We learned about the Black Death and how it must have been a horrible time to live in the cities where disease spread so easily. We even got to look at the skeleton of a real Viking!
After Dublinia Museum we went to St. Patrick's Park and has our lunch. It was lovely and sunny and there was an ice-cream van there so we had our fill!
We then hopped on the Viking 'Duck' boats and got to see all the famous landmarks in the city. Our tour guide was really funny and told us to roar at the 'peasants' on the streets like the fierce Vikings. We frightened a lot of passers-by and got some funny looks! We then all got life-jackets and splashed into the Grand Canal. We could see the Marker Hotel, Bord Gáis Energy Theatre and some very fancy apartments worth over a million euros. Jedward even own one! We didn't spot them though. We had a great day and were exhausted when we arrived home at 5pm.
