Mirek has joined us for the 2nd year in running to make ASW as enjoyable and active as possible. Along with some traditional games, he played some great cooperative games that all could play. It was great to see the children them make decisions, problem solve, work together and have fun at the same time. There were lots of different fundamental skills of balance, running , jumping, dodging, hopping in the mix also. What a day!
ASW23 Day 3-Hurling and Cumann na mBunscol Games
We are very fortunate to have Colt Shanahoe GAA club support hurling in our area. Dan Butler who continues to coach and guide the children every Wednesday. All abilities are considered to try and promote and make hurling accessible to all. This week was extra busy with both the boys and girls competing in their their respective Cumnann na mBunscol games. The boys under a lot of pressure managed to secure a win. The girls have a new format this year having to play three games on the one day. They all competed very well and played to the best of their ability.
ASW 23 Day 2 - 'Futsal' with F.A.I. Development Officer, Clare Conlon
Tobar an Léinn were delighted to welcome F.A.I. Development Officer, Clare Conlon to school today. Clare introduced the game 'futsal' to all classes. It was great to have the opportunity to see how she professionally delivered quality sessions by Clare. A lot of children really love soccer so this was something everyone enjoyed participating in. The future is bright!
#ASW23 Day 1- Dance with Lisa From Gravity Dance Academy
Although our morning had some cloud cover and drops of rain this did not deter the 'Wake Up, Shake up' dance with the whole school assembly. Lisa from Gravity Dance Academy got everyone into great spirits to launch our Active Schools Week 2023.
Every class got an opportunity to explore and dance creatively with Lisa. She choreographed some great dance routines in line with very catchy and upbeat music. This day was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. It was great to see children express themselves in a fun and creative way.
