The name embraces and links the old with the new - the past with the present. "Tobar" {a well} derives from St. Fintan's Well - a local holy and tranquil place of prayer, reflection and pilgrimage. The "old school" was named "St. Fintan's N.S." - so the bond with the much revered saint continues to go on.
The building is a stimulating and refreshing teaching and learning space - a place of education - thus "Léinn". Education is about change - moving away from the past and preparing ourselves for the challenges of the future. The "passive solar" design ensures optimum use of natural light and heat, minimising the use of fossil fuels. The many ecological features guarantee the building works with nature - not against it; what's good for the environment is good for us. The "pure drop" of knowledge and education we hope will continue to rise and flow here for many generations to come. Our challenge? - to provide all pupils who attend here with a "TÚS MAITH" in primary education.
TOBAR AN LÉINN - SUPPORTING THE RISE, FLOW AND FREEDOM OF EDUCATION INTO THE FUTURE.
