Tobar an Léinn is a small 6 teacher primary school located in the village of Raheen, Co. Laois, Ireland.
This month we are learning how to be really descriptive writers. We wrote some poems all about our grandparents using loads of similes and metaphors. We hope they love them! I love my Nana Lalor, She is so special to me, She helps me in all kinds of ways, And it is clear to see. I love my Granny G, She lives so close to me, She has a big family, Who are all related to me. My Grandad Jimmy lives in the Heath, He always makes me nice things to eat, He helps me with my homework, And always makes sure it's neat. I am so lucky to have great grandparents, Who always care for me, My Grandad PJ who is in heaven, Is also part of my family. By Katie Grant, 3rd class.

We are learning all about Egypt and the lives of the people who live there in SESE this month. We learned that khoshaf is an Egyptian dessert made from dried fruits. Ms. Hayes got some dried apricots, raisins, cranberries and figs and mixed them together in a big bowl. Then she sprinkled A LOT of sugar on top (1 and a half cups to be precise). Finally, she poured about 2 cups of boiling water on top of the mixture and left it all to soak overnight in the fridge. We all got to taste some the next day with delicious custard. Some of us were big fans, the apricots especially went down a treat. Mark loved the figs!
However, it was not to everyone's taste as the texture of some of the fruits are a bit strange. Having said that, we're glad we tried something new and lived like an Egyptian for a little while! Tharraingeamar learscáil de bhaile mór sa cheantar agus de na siopaí atá ann. Éist leis na cailiní i Rang a Trí ag caint faoi lá sa bhaile mór. Nach bhfuil siad go hiontach? |
