Junior and Senior Infants coloured and stuck together their lovely roosters. We talked about different animals on the 12-year animal zodiac cycle. We really enjoyed finding out about the Chinese New Year and how they celebrate it. We looked at a very interesting Tiger Dance. Outside our school we have a Cherry Blossom tree. We saw that the Chinese really love this tree so we finger painted our blossoms.
We have five senses to help us learn about our surroundings and about ourselves. These are hearing, sight, taste, smell and touch. Popping popcorn was an ideal activity to explore all the five senses. With the help of a microwave, we popped the kernels. We used our senses to describe the sounds and smells we experienced. We also compared uncooked kernels and cooked popcorn. Our classroom reminded the children of the cinema!
Stories helped us explore more about our Senses.
This very hungry caterpillar ate his way through a varied and large quantity of foodstuff everyday of the week. We loved all the food.
Daddy Bear could not get a wink of sleep. The house and garden was full of many familiar noises. He just could not get any peace. Eventually he did only to be awoken by his alarm clock. Poor Daddy Bear!
We decided to create a lovely perfumed garden. The children sprayed their favourite fragrance onto the cotton wool and decorated some flowers. Our classroom was smelling beautiful.
